What is Anti Static Epoxy Flooring?

What is anti static epoxy flooring? What are the uses of this flooring? is epoxy anti static? What are the types of antistatic flooring? Where are the places of use of antistatic flooring? How is this flooring applied to the surface? These questions will be answered in this article.

What Is Antistatic Flooring?

The daily movement of people on the floor surface of manufacturing factories and office halls is the most commonly known source of generating electricity (charge) due to friction (the contact and friction of two dissimilar surfaces create a static electric charge). Activities such as walking on the floor or contacting layers of clothing during movement can produce thousands of volts. If this electrical charge is not removed from the environment, it can cause a spark. This spark or electrical discharge can be dangerous in some applications such as server rooms, operating rooms, and explosive material warehouses. To prevent the occurrence of sparks, the accumulation of electric charge on the surface should be prevented by using conductive or antistatic flooring.
Conductive and antistatic floors are floors with electrical resistance in the range of conductive to semi-conductive, which prevent the static electric charge accumulation on the surface of the floor and people's bodies by directing it to the earth well.

What Are theTypes of Anti Static Flooring?

Antistatic floors are classified into different types based on their electrical resistance.

Electrostatic Conductive Floor:

types of anti-static flooring: Conductive electrostatic flooring refers to flooring that has relatively low electrical resistance and quickly discharges its charge by connecting it to the ground or a conductive object with a lower potential. And it conducts electric current. The electrical resistance of this type of flooring is less than 106 ohms. (109 -106x 2.5 Ohm)

Dissipative Floor:

Dissipative flooring is flooring that, if it is connected to the earth well or lower potentials, there is a loss of electric charge. It is a spreader of electric charge. The resistance of this flooring is between 109 -106 ohms.

Astatic Floor:

Flooring is said to minimize the load generated by the contact and re-separation of two or more surfaces. This flooring is not necessarily conductive electrostatic flooring or dissipative flooring. Static floors are used for domestic and public applications and are described by the voltage of a person walking on the floor, which must be less than 2 kV in the measurements made in the method mentioned in the standard. (109 -106 ohms)
Antistatic floors are also divided into the following types based on the type of materials used:
⦁ Antistatic resin flooring, including antistatic epoxy flooring and antistatic polyurethane flooring
⦁ PVC flooring in rolls and tiles

Where are the Places of Use of Antistatic Flooring?

⦁ Server room flooring
⦁ Operating room flooring
⦁ Control room flooring
⦁ Explosive warehouse flooring
⦁ Color hall flooring

How to Install Anti Static Flooring Material:

1- Leveling the floor and creating a unified surface using surface preparation methods and, if necessary, underlayment using epoxy resin flooring.
2- Creating a copper network with distances proportional to the required electrical resistance and considering the output of the network to connect to the earth
3- Application of antistatic epoxy primer using a roller
4- Applying self-leveling conductive or antistatic epoxy coating using a combed squeegee and a spiked roller anti static flooring material.

Installation Steps of cConductive PVC Flooring:

1- Leveling the floor if needed
2- Creating a copper network with distances proportional to the required electrical resistance and considering the output of the network to connect to the earth
3- Apply conductive glue for PVC flooring
4- Sticking the conductive PVC flooring on the applied conductive adhesive (in this method, the flooring is cut according to the dimensions of the room).
